The sin that haunts us

(Originally written May 25, 2006 in Book 3)

The chief sin is idolatry. But it is idolatry in the sense that we become and therefor worship ourselves as gods. This comes from vain pride.

Pride is good.
Vain pride is bad & potentially dangerous.
Self-idolization from vain pride is evil.

Hence, the first commandment - Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Vain pride is the father of all sins.

Sin is the manifestation of evil.

Therefore, vain pride is the evil which haunts us.
